Rules and Guidelines:
Who can sponsor a team?
- Teachers
- Administrators
- Librarians
- Home-school educators
- Makerspaces
- Not represented here - please contact us
- During the Pandemic, we are not putting a limit on the number of participants/teams from each school. They will be broken down into the following divisions.
- Lower Division = grades 3-5
- Middle Division = grades 6-8
- Upper Division = grades 9-12
- That is awesome. We hope that teachers see the potential to incorporate D2MD into their curricula.
- We suggest turning this into a competition within your organization, inviting other teachers and community members to provide feedback before the D2MD Showcase
- Another suggestion would be to celebrate all student work at a mini-showcase at your school or on Zoom.
- You can use literally anything - Use what you have in terms of tools, technology and materials.
- If you don't have access to the right equipment, contact us and we will try to help.
- We love 3D printers. If you need help with 3D printing, contact us.
- We understand the design process and realize that groups will present a spectrum of "finished" products.
- Some groups will have a very refined prototype, which is awesome.
- Some groups will have a rough prototype, still made of cardboard (we love cardboard), which is awesome.
- We hope you iterate as much as possible, bringing the best version of your product to the showcase.
- Failure is the main learning engine for this type of work. We love failure.
- Since each team will use its own makerspace equipment, its own ideas, and its own problems, the only consistency among teams is the iterative process. Please show us the problems you did solve and the steps you took to get to where you are.
- If we can't see what you made, tell us how not to make it! Each failure is knowledge that can be passed on, providing vital information that can help others in a similar endeavor. Share that knowledge.
- Exact details will follow depending on the number of teams participating.
- We want to see your process and how it led to your final iteration.
- Present with some form of visual aid (i.e. a poster, slideshow, video, etc).
- Design a demonstration of your product to showcase to attendees and potential judges.
- Check out our suggested Project Options in the menu above.
- Contact us for a consultation (FREE). We love brainstorming with teachers and students.
- Registration is free.
- Participation in the showcase is free.
- Professional Development is free.
- Tech-support is free.
- Register your team by going to the registration page.
